Este nivel es fundamental, ya que consolida las bases de la lectoescritura y el razonamiento matemático, habilidades sin las cuales el éxito escolar posterior se ve comprometido. La investigación categorizó los factores influyentes en tres grandes áreas: la esfera escolar (calidad de la enseñanza, diagnóstico inicial deficiente y rotación docente), la esfera familiar (bajo nivel educativo de los padres, falta de estímulo en el hogar y ausencia de recursos) y la esfera individual (problemas de salud, madurez cognitiva y dificultades de aprendizaje no detectadas). Mediante un enfoque mixto, se recopiló información para establecer correlaciones significativas. Los hallazgos demuestran que el factor más crítico es la falta de dominio de la alfabetización inicial al finalizar el primer grado. El trabajo concluye con la propuesta de un modelo de intervención temprana basado en tutorías diferenciadas y la colaboración activa entre docentes y familias para prevenir la persistencia del rezago.
